On July 20, 2009, Rashid Mayes & Karlyn Hunter welcomed their Kamari Hunter Mayes into the world. Weighing 7 lbs, 8 ozs and measuring 21" long, Kamari arrived on the scene with bright eyes as she looked around her environment. Although she's a very happy baby, Mom and Dad are still praying for a good night's sleep:-). Photos are available in the photo gallery.

Chandlers, this year's reunion is in Plymouth Meeting, PA (not too far from Philadelphia).

The Philadelphia Chandlers are hosting it and have prepared several family fun activities.

Reunion Dues are $75 for ages 13 and up; $40 for ages 6-12 and free for children 5 and under. The hotel rate is $89 for the "Chandler Family Reunion." To catch this rate, reserve by 7/1/09. T-shirts are $10.

The Hunters in Detroit are hosting the Hunter Family reunion this year. It will be from July 10-12, 2009. Their theme this year is "Promoting Unity with Love." The Family Reunion Committee has gone through a lot of preparations to make the reunion, affordable and fun. Their also creating a souvenir booklet with biographical information, awards/accomplishments and family changes. If you'd like to place an addin the booklet they'll need to hear from you by June 15th.

Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, will have the honor and pleasure of having on our best and brightest attend their university as a Freshman this Fall. Patrick is graduating from high school on May 18th (see events calendar for more details) and will move to Atlanta to start college. He plans to major in Mass Media Arts and Computer Information Science.

Please send a congratulatory note to 5th-grader Dezmond Owens (son of Douglas Owens, grandson of Jacqueline Hunter Marshall) for winning Selma, Alabama's Fifth grade Black History Month oratorical contest for his portrayal of Malcolm X.

Dezmond also made honor roll this past grading period with 6 As and 2 Bs.

She's moving on to greener and more relaxing pastures.... Congratulations are in order for Tangie L. Phair who is retiring from the Marine Corp. We wish you all the best in the next chapter of your life! Here retirment party is scheduled for April 25th at the Golf Club on Ft. Meade in Maryland.
